Emergent Strategy was documented by adrienne maree brown in 2017 as a framework to "shape and generate complex systems and patterns through relatively simple interactions”. This framework rests on a lineage in Black Feminist Wisdom, biomimicry, Octavia E. Butler’s science fiction work and social and environmental justice movements.
